The Mobile Workforce State Income Tax Simplification Act has now made it way through the House and is on to the Senate.
Mobile Workforce Bill Details
The intention of the legislation is to create a consistency in state income tax laws by introducing a 30 day period in which the traveling employee’s earnings would be exempt from taxes and other withholdings from the state in which they are traveling. The bill is aimed to help small businesses and cut administrative costs to the state.
The bill was passed May 15 by the House and was sent to the Senate Committee on Finance on May 16.
