Sage Abra End of Life - in a Nutshell

Sage recently announced Abra Suite “end of life," - if you're using Abra Suite you will need to transition to a new HCM/HRIS/Payroll solution before third quarter 2020!

Sage recently announced Abra Suite “end of life.” As of December 28, 2020 Sage will no longer provide any support for Abra Suite. As of September 1, 2020 Sage will no longer provide development, tax and compliance updates.

In other words, after September 1, 2020, there will be no support for year end or quarterly reports. Clients using Abra Suite will need to transition to a new HCM/HRIS/Payroll solution before third quarter 2020!

What to do if you're currently using Sage Abra Suite

Change is inevitable and it's time for a change! There are many HRIS systems available - now you get to enjoy the process of finding, evaluating, purchasing, implementing, and learning a new system. Now is the time to get started identifying and transitioning to a new provider. To stay up to date, you'll need to have your new Payroll/HR system implemented and live before the end of 2020.

While Sage is promoting Sage HRMS as the next step for Sage Abra Suite users, it's ultimately a completely new system. There are no real benefits to transitioning within the Sage brand. Sage touts HRMS as an upgrade to Abra, but feedback from clients that completed this "upgrade" indicates that reporting is more difficult, Payroll and HR are still use separate databases, the GL is more complicated, and a third party product is required for government files - just to name a few client concerns. Additionally, the database has been updated to SQL, but FoxPro coding is still in place.
