3 Questions You Should Ask Yourself When Looking for an HRIS System

After speaking with numerous companies who are in search for new Payroll Software and/or new HR software I have found that many are looking for the same thing.  There are three questions you should ask yourself when searching for a HRIS system.

  1. Is it easy to use? - Is the HRIS system easy to use for everyone that needs to use it.  Navigation should be intuitive, without complicated commands.
  2. Is it customizable?—Can the HRIS system be adapted to the uniqueness of our company?  HRIS systems are written to address the needs of most companies, but every company has little quirks that need to be addressed.  Can I easily make the HRIS system do what I want it to do?
  3. Is the reporting easy?—Can I get the information I need out of the HRIS software system easily?  There will probably be numerous standard reports, but when I need specialized information, can I get to it?  Is there a query tool that will let me get answers to questions that I need answered?

When the time comes for you to make a change in your Payroll software or your HR software ask yourselves these questions as well as questions that are specific to your company’s specific needs.  If the HRIS system you are looking at meets these needs you have found a solution to make your job much easier!
